This kind of thing is not easy to do.
Agreed, mersenneforum rocks! Without it there would be no yafu either (whether or not it is useful).

Profound. Please show where I made such a claim.

Your claim is, in fact speaking your mind on things you do not know much about.

Perhaps we are talking about different things? MisFIT == Minimal i386
Software Fault Isolation Tool??

There's stemming and there's stemming.

Some people may think that stemming is strictly coming from the same stem, e.g. branches and leaves of a: 1) plant, 2) software source. E.g. mmff stemmed from mfaktc; mmff-gfn stemmed from mmff. Or, say, LLR and/or SoB client stemmed from Prime95.

Some other people may think that stemming has to do with being in aid of. In this line of thinking, a Xmas tree toy stems from the pine tree. Well, it is attached to it, it hangs from it, it makes it less boring and it makes it more functional for a particular purpose - celebrating the holiday season.

Natural language is imprecise. And if people speak the same shorthand, they will glance over the multiple meanings and will not quibble. For people from different backgrounds, any given phrase could launch a lengthy debate, be that something as inane as "it sure is cold today".

Is yafu used for finding M_p? I thought that it was a factoring tool.

No, it's not useful for finding M_p, but I was responding to a message talking about the usefulness of this forum, not of M_p related software. This forum is very germane to the existence of yafu.
