Default put a 32 core Xeon to quick but good use

This Xeon is just sitting here with 32 threads available, it's 2off E5-2687W @ 3.1GHz. Quite fancy.
It CAN'T be used all the time to run primes because it's kind of noisy and the machine runs other jobs too.
I was wondering if there is any _quick_ checks which could be run in the machine? Let's say for a couple of hours, up to 1 day or 2 ?
I'd be glad to make the machine available for that.
Cheers

With NFS@Home you will not find if the machine works well or not (passes the tests).

You could join PrimeGrid and attach to some quick tests (e.g. )
http://www.primegrid.com/prefs.php?subset=project
The link "Edit PrimeGrid preferences" in the middle of this page will have approximate running times.
Quote:
321 Prime Search (LLR) Recent average CPU time: 31:59:36 <-- (i.e. 32 hours)
...
Proth Prime Search (LLR) Recent average CPU time: 56:01
Proth Prime Search Extended (LLR) Recent average CPU time: 30:24
Sophie Germain Prime Search (LLR) Recent average CPU time: 42:47
Sierpinski/Riesel Base 5 (LLR) Recent average CPU time: 5:20:54
other projects take typically a few days per task
Some time later, when all results will be double-checked, you will be able to see the pass/fail statistics.

Their website takes some time to get used to and find where is what but you can ask on their forum.

In this context does "quick check" really mean a fast stress test, or
is it just bad English vocabulary? (of which we see a lot).

As well as NFS@Home there are several ECM factoring projects. yoyo@home is one of them. I run an ECMNET server at 83.217.167.177:8194 --- contact me for more detail if you would like to contribute.

That doesn't mean you can't run Prime95 on it. You can use PauseWhileRunning to ensure that it yields to more "important" jobs and/or runs only during certain hours.
