Would the ASUS P4P800S (using Intel 848P chipset) be a good alternative to P4P800 (using the Intel 865PE)? It hasn't got dual channel memory, but it is 25% cheaper. What about overclocking?
It is for a dedicated cruncher box. Now I will finally buy the new box I have planned to buy for the last five months. I think. I hope it is just a mistake in the manual of P4P800S where it says that the CPU External Frequency is auto-detected, and not manually configurable. In the specifications summary they say it can be incremented in 1 MHz steps. |
