White 01st move...

Welcome everybody, and good luck in the new game.
I think the only question now is "d4 or e4?", I don't believe that anybody wants some fancy openings. We may play e4 and give them a chance to play sicilian and revenge :D

Between e4 and d4 I would prefer e4. The only other move I would consider would be c4 since most of the other transpose into less favorable lines of other openings.

Fischer said 1 e4 was "Best by test"! Also, we can show how better to handle the White side of the Sicilian than was done in game 1!

hehe, good point, the trouble is that I never played 1.c4 as white and I have no idea how to handle it.

With c4 it's either win or loss the draw chances are much lower than either d4 which has the highest of the 3 and e4 in between. Since one of us has not played c4 then I would go with e4.

There are not so many books dealing with 1.c4 either. In the first game I had a lot of luck with Mr. Palliser's book, it helped me for the first 15 moves or so (over a third of the game!). I am a good analyst (well, the job... I do this for a living), but far away to be an opening expert... So, we go with e4 now, let's try to speed up a little. Lazy holiday times...

Sorry for not chiming in earlier... yes e4 is fine with me.
