30 is way to low for a 6970.. you should get around ~160, 7970 GHz should get around ~370.

I don't know what this means... I just took them out of SLI via the Nvidia Control Panel (disabled multi-GPU mode) when I added the second card.

Probabbly upgrade drivers ? They released new drivers which also made the card faster.. cant wait for my 2x titans to arrive on friday...
