I'm not quite sure about the nature of your question. What are you seeing here?

Um, why is it blocked? It's not functional?

My guess is that the hardware is quite possibly functional. It might be disabled in firmware though. It's a way they separate different products.
Did you have to take this apart sufficiently to void the warranty? If not it would be interesting to try on a working card.

Ahh! I had hope that your question referred to something about the card's malfunction which might be corrected. For the record, did the "magic smoke" come out?

I took it apart because it was broken and they wouldn't replace it because I did not register...

@kladner: you mean when it died?

Yes. As I've been told, electronic devices run on smoke. If it comes out they stop working. I was just wondering if it did anything besides quit running. Are there signs of damage on the disassembled board?

EDIT: I know that this likely makes little difference, except from a post mortem standpoint. However, if there are obvious blown capacitors, it might be possible to replace them. I fixed my partner's monitor in this way. Since there is no chance of official aid you have nothing to loose except the (modest) price of the parts. If there are burns, etc., it's not worth throwing money at it.

I don't see anything burned/broken. However, it died during the night, soo... There might have been special smoke.
