Time to replace the CRT upstairs with an LED. The LG model I am considering doesn't have a socket for headphones so I assume I need to use the Optical IR socket on the back of the cable box?
I need: Cable Amplifier with sockets [for speakers and] headphones. ...? Will the sound remain in perfect sync with the picture sent by HDMI to the TV? Probable TV And I doing this right? I [probably] don't need external speakers. Edit: optical audio not optical ir Last fiddled with by Flatlander on 2013-04-19 at 15:32 |

That TV has it's own speakers. Most people wouldn't need external speakers. Do you have any special needs(deafness, particularly large room etc.)?

It will be used mostly with headphones. Late at night etc.
I am hoping the auto-dimming screen and '100Hz' display will reduce my wife's migraines. This CRT now flickers and can trigger them. Last fiddled with by Flatlander on 2013-04-19 at 16:28 |

I have a 47" LG and it has the uncomfortable small jack for head phones (but at least it's there. your model by the look of the specs doesn't have any. Pity.).
We do use it at night (usually there's just one viewer) - what feeds into it is the radio headset, so we don't trip on the wires. (Incidentally, I though I'd go less than cheap, and that Sennheiser would be free of radio noises, but it was wishful thinking. The sound quality is really good, but once you turn you head... meh. Aw well. The trick is to get comfortable and don't fuss around. If you stay perfectly still, then it is excellent.) |

Thanks for the comments. I've had so much trouble finding what I want at 26" that it looks like I will have to go for a 32".
This should be okay. If the speakers are |

@Luigi
Yeah, it's a compromise. I would also like faster than 20ms response time. But, it is cheap, has a 2 year warranty, and an ambient light sensor. Everything breaks here anyway! I can't get headphone jack, ambient light sensor, fast response time, 1080P, good reviews, all in a small enough TV. Might as well look a bit more over the weekend I suppose.
