...a mersenne prime has/is been assigned to a random/ANONYMOUS user and will almost never be completed? Untill expired, then reassigned to.... Maybe.

I'm sure that it happens that somebody's playing around with the settings in PrimeNet and never even realizes he was assigned an exponent. Others do realize it and regret it immediately. Still others do take the assignment, maybe even start it, and then lose interest. Some of us take the assignment fully willing and able to finish it, but then forget completely...
