Without having played, it looks a little bit like a game called "Bridge Builder" which I believe really calculates stresses in the bridge beams / ropes / etc. There is a free trial version and the full version is cheap.
This part sounds real interesting:

Quote:
While testing the bridge, the stress on each section can be seen, representing both tensile stress and compressive stress.

We are worried about getting sucked into another game, though!

Your first level score is better than mine(321/373). I don't have a clue how. Looks to me like you didn't spend any money on supports which I don't think is possible. edit: got 375
I managed to get a similarly higher score on level 2 though(435/383).
Got (528/471) on the 3rd level.

I have played cargo bridge for 3 days now. Made it to level 20. Pretty fun game.

Merry Christmas.

Our older (Windows) laptop choked on "Bridge Project" (Try the demo first!) but the nice folks at Chronic Logic hooked us up with a Linux version of "Bridge Construction Set".

Our laptop loaded it up fine but the video card was too weak, so it lagged real bad.

"BCS" is a lot of fun. We have a lot of the options turned off to give us more control. For example, we can build each side of the bridge independently, and save money by not building it mirrored. (Does that make sense?)

I introduced SWMBO to this game less than an hour ago. She's already completed the first two levels. That's two more than I managed in my desultory exploration.
