Certainly we have to either:
1. move that horse, or 2. defend that horse. If we do anything else like "not 1 and not 2", (for example Bb7, Bd7, Rb8, Re8, Qc7, b5, a6, whatever), then he takes the horse and gets material advantage (at least a pawn) and much better position. If we defend the horse, this can be done by the other horse or by e5. - by the other horse in f5 is bad, we give him a horse for free. - by the other horse in c6 is also bad. He still can take it, Bxd4, we use the pawn, but he pushes e5 and realize FOUR nice things in the same time: blocks our bishop in g7, blocks our e5, links the horse in c6 with the rook (we need to waste a rook move to be able to move the horse out of c6) and attacks d6. We can not defend the pawn in d4 anymore and he takes it for free. Or we give him the rook for a bishop and pawn but still keep the center. I don't like either versions. - by pushing e5, now he can't take the horse anymore, because after exd4 we place a very unchewable pawn in his ribs. This might be an interesting movie. But we block our bishop, and now he can freely play his rook in b. If we move the horse... where? Sorry SM88, but Nb5 is a very weak move. He pushes c4 and we have to run again far-back, to c7, very "unfortunate" position for the horse, doing nothing and blocking the queen, and now white has more attack on the center, he even can push d4, what stops him now? If we want to retreat that horse, Nc6 is better then Nb5. But again, placing ANY horse to c6 links the rook behind (he pushes e5, etc). Conclusion is that we beat his horse first. Check! Of course he takes it, they would be stupid to move the king. We have time to think to the next move, Bb7 is not bad, especially if he uses the rook  and we get both diagonals. There is no surprise in this game yet. We are winning it. Maybe we should play something stupid to increase the fun, otherwise it will be, like my daughter said... "boring" (?!) |
