Windows- vs. Linuxclient?

I run here latest win- (P4) and linuxclient (P3) on 2 boxes. The linux box is approx 50% slower by MHz-Number, so in direct compare it should need ~2x time than win.

But in reallity, it takes >4x more time for same Doublecheck calculation (same number) even the box is idle most time. Why?

You are running Windows on a Pentium 4 and Linux on a Pentium 3?

Pentium 4 has special hardware instructions ('"SSE2") which make it exceptionally fast for GIMPS. You can't compare MHz or GHz between Pentium 3 and Pentium 4... the Pentium 4 will be a lot faster "per MHz".
