We are dependent on our senses (for perception, hence concepts, hence all knowledge), but what they pass on to us is really real.

real shapes (of what?). But your ability and responsibility to identify what
you actually saw at the sensation level would allow you and others to know
for sure what those perceptions involved.

But as for their reality, of course (as long as your description accurately
depicted true experiences) the sensations were real. How you interpret
them is open to your scientific scrutiny.
