[OT]The original is an over 30 years old poem, which I am still looking for. Don't know the author, it may be a famous british/american poet/joker. I could not find it on the web, I still remember the final rhyme also contains "by a truck" (it was a longer rhyme) which is missing from the story. There are many versions on the web, but no one fully in verses/rhymes. THAT was much better then the narrated story.[/OT]

[OT]I would love to see it show up in the Lounge. It sounds like it would fit in limerick form.[/OT]

----- from a friend of ours ----
Hey Scott, Is this mk-whatever program coded to make calls against generic graphics APIs like OpenGL or DirectX, or is it calling manufacturer-specific device APIs? If the former, I don't think I have much to add, but if the latter, here is one thought. Any such API has to have some way of signaling from the user-mode process calling it into the kernel-mode driver that actually implements the device. The mk-whatever program may have a hardcoded device path that wont be found because of how RDP sessions decorate these paths. The Windows kernel places every device registered with the system in a hierarchical in-memory structure called the Object Manager Namespace. When Terminal Server was introduced the namespace was altered so you couldn't just specify a device (or named pipe, or shared memory section, or whatever), you had to specify the prefix \\global\ to get at systemwide devices. Or, it could be the program is already specifying \\global\ and needs to refer to the individual RDP session number. Just a thought. Cheers, Owen |

Don't know how many people use LogMeIn for managing their remote systems... if you use the free version, it's going away:
http://liliputing.com/2014/01/logmei...p-service.html I found http://www.teamviewer.com/en/index.aspx Seems to work very well, simple install and setup. It's not in a browser, but the program is quite intuitive. They support 'free' for personal use. CUDA program will start back up using the remote TeamViewer! |

Teamviewer will work from a browser
edit: at least I could a couple of months ago. Can't work it out now. Might be easier to work out when not trying the control the pc you are using. Last fiddled with by henryzz on 2014-01-22 at 19:02 |

I just started using it yesterday and it's not too bad. The app didn't need to be installed for connecting to the remote system.
