Prime95 v27.7 crashes

hello,

i am currently doing a trial-and-error on a i7-3770k processor + sabertooth z77 mobo and Prime95 crashes when attempting to run a "custom blend" w/ > 90% ram at iterations using length 25K. i have tried at least a minimum of 5 different settings (primarily different core voltage) but the app crashes at the same spot every time. the core temperatures seem fine (high 80s at max)...

any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Try not using so much memory in the blend test. It is quite possible that prime95 got a memory allocation error and failed to handle it gracefully. If you test 75% of memory, that should be nearly as effective as a 90% test.

Perhaps bad memory? If you can pass the other stress tests but not the blend, that might be the case. Try running memtest86. (This is of course all in stress.txt.)

i tried 80% of memory and same problem.

Try 50%, and try 30%, etc. Find out if there is any amount of ram use that does not cause a crash. Let us know that it crashes with X amount of ram, but it does not crash with Y amount of ram.

Can you run all of your tests at stock speed and stock voltages to eliminate those as variables.

i will go ahead and try different % of ram and get back to you. ram type: CORSAIR Vengenance 16GB (4 x 4GB)

i am currently using build 2 of 27.7.

As Dubslow said, have you tested your memory directly, like with memtest? Memory *might* be the problem.

i am currently using memtest86+ v5.00b1 to test the memory as we speak. quick q - why is RAM being read as 800 MHz (vs. 1600 MHz as advertised)?
