Intrinsity FastMATH processor?

Anybody know anything about this?

I've hardly started reading the documentation... most of it requires registration.

There is one thing though... this is a fixed-point rather than a floating-point processor. They claim this allows reduced power consumption, more instructions per clock cycle and better numerical computational accuracy.

The big downside though, would be, how the heck do you convert a C program like Glucas to use fixed point? Seems like a nontrivial porting job.

I suspect this is only 32-bit... not double precision... not to mention loss of precision caused by using fixed rather than floating point. Oh well.
