Cudalucas on cheap cards

I've (almost) always received all* rebates that I applied for. (For one of them I almost gave up, but then bugged Zotac with a couple emails and they woke up and mailed it to me immediately. That was the only time I bought from Zotac - it was a backup silent card for the time of RMA of the main card.)

I didn't receive only two rebates - for my washer machine and for my refrigerator. .......Because I forgot the rebate forms in the pile of the post-move office stuff, and found them only now in 2012.


Here's my list of companies that didn't cheat me out of rebates: MSI, Thermaltake, Antec, Gigabyte, Patriot, Corsair, ...Zotac. And MSI again because they RMA'd a card that was 2y 10months old (even though the original sale was with a warranty of 1y; I think they have a standard 3y warranty now.)

*EDIT2: Wait, Raidmax did cheat on me. They wrote that some barcodes didn't match and when I argued with receipts and copies, they never answered.

When I go for a shiny new 8 core Xeon, I'll pick up a pair of 580's.

My system is a Celeron 420 1.6 Ghz. There isn't much point in upgrading it. I have a Compute 1.0 Nvidia card in it but never used it more than a few minutes. I felt that it's not even worth bothering to use the GPU unless I put a compute 2.x card in it. But now they are cheap.

I can't see myself getting a new system for perhaps three more years. Then there will be new socket/new CPU motherboards -- which would probably make a bargain out of the current latest and greatest CPU stuff.

Sorry about the coup d'etat consequences.
