I've been getting that black screen/driver stopped responding error. Nvidia is still working on a fix.
Well last night, the screen blanked for a moment and the message that the driver stopped responding popped up. Normally the driver restarts and all is good. Last night something didn't restart correctly the fans on the 560ti didn't restart. I keep a watch on the board temps and they normally run 80C to 85C. Without the fans running and a semi-crashed driver, the board spiked 120C+ before I could do anything and I smelled smoke. Who knows how high it really went. The computer rebooted itself and then no video and one long and two short beeps. Long story short, 560ti smells like burnt plastic and I am back to a gtx260. Oh the PAIN. I went from an avg rate of 330M/s to 44M/s. So if you have 560ti, watch out for that bug. Roy Oswald |

Ouch, I feel your pain.
I'm running a GTX 260 (Core 216) as well, which I recently overclocked from 576MHz to 740MHz. This increased average operating temperatures from ~76C to ~83C, so I was already beginning to worry about overheating issues. After reading this I decided to go ahead and configure RealTemp to immediately shut down my system should my GPU temp ever rise to 95C or above. I tested it with a lower temperature threshold to make sure everything was running properly, and now I'll sleep a little more soundly at night. Is this something that you can get replaced under warranty? Hope you get it back up and running soon. |

Thanks Jaxon,
I may have messed up and not registered this board. I'm taking care of a very sick wife and things get past a tired mind. I think I got it six months ago. I'll check on it. I can't UPS over Christmas weekend anyway. ![]() Maybe the new boards will be out soon and they will sell a 570 or 580 for cheap! P.S. I think I should have posted this in hardware. I bought the unicomp equivalent (I wanted a windows key) a few months ago. One of the best purchases I have made for sure.

yes yes yes!
They can stop a 38 special and still work. I killed a rat with one once, then put it in the dishwasher. Good as new. Great idea, thanks to you both. Now looking on-line.

The black Unicomp looks good — if mine ever stops working I might get that. I got this one used on Ebay. Interestingly, there are people who collect Model Ms by year, even though they look the same. The year of manufacture is printed on the bottom. This one I am using is a 1990.

Being a dead rat is no excuse for not keeping clean.
