Hey guys,
Just got a 212+ installed on i7-2600K. Set Turbo to 45/44/43/42 (my blasted Intel mobo won't let me up the non-turbo past 34). Ran MPrime and monitored temps. MPrime threw errors. I immediately killed it. Code:
Iteration: 33319665/45299699, ERROR: SUM(INPUTS) != SUM(OUTPUTS), 1.141090287778717e+84 != 0 Possible hardware failure, consult the readme.txt file. Continuing from last save file. Iteration 27446736 / 45161959 Iteration 28139336 / 45161773 [Thu Dec 8 23:12:25 2011] Iteration: 33319680/45299699, ERROR: ROUND OFF (0.5) > 0.40 Continuing from last save file. Iteration: 33319672/45299699, ERROR: ROUND OFF (0.5) > 0.40 Continuing from last save file. Disregard last error. Result is reproducible and thus not a hardware problem. For added safety, redoing iteration using a slower, more reliable method. Continuing from last save file. Iteration: 33319680/45299699, ERROR: ROUND OFF (0.5) > 0.40 Continuing from last save file. Oh yeah. On (re)boot Ubuntu ran a disk check (to be expected) and then MPrime didn't start at boot, as it had everytime since August. Also, the video part of my flash players appear to be inactive, i.e. I can listen to the music, but... http://filesmelt.com/dl/screenshot341.png Edit: It occurs to me: Could this be that TurboBoost doesn't increase voltages? Also, on a second reboot (now with standard Turbo 38/37/36/35) MPrime started at boot and flash works fine now.) Last fiddled with by Dubslow on 2011-12-09 at 05:46 |

It's better not to run LL tests until you have figured out the settings that are necessary to run your box stable at a given frequency. You should use the torture test instead. My 2500K had no problems running at 4 GHz stable without touching any other setting than the multiplier but 4.4 GHz was already too much to pass the torture test
1 = Small FFTs (maximum FPU stress, data fits in L2 cache, RAM not tested much) without increasing the voltage. It might be possible to run my CPU at even higher frequencies, but this would probably require some (in the long run) unhealthy voltages. Last fiddled with by Ralf Recker on 2011-12-09 at 14:10 |

That's what I'm doing. Played Minecraft all night at stock settings, and now am stress-testing at each Turbo frequency, which is to say not only stability but which frequency Turbo will maintain, seeing as I can't change the non-Turbo ratio
![]() ATM I'm doing the 38 run, and it seems to be mostly maintaining the multiplier, though it has dropped to 34 at least once for about 10 seconds. Of course if I could change the non-turbo ratio then I'd go into manual voltage and optimize it, but Turbo makes things complicated... Last fiddled with by Dubslow on 2011-12-09 at 14:13 |

Okay, so even though it said continuing from last save file, it is still reporting the old errors when I restarted MPrime-GIMPS (after 2.5 hr torture test at current Turbo Boost setting). If I manually reload the old backups, with this go away, or is it doomed to be reported anyways?

Can't you turn turbo off and modify the multiplier then?

Nope.Lesson learned: If you want to break the warranty of an Intel CPU, don't try to do it with an Intel motherboard. Stupid crappers.

Intel is very conservative in what they allow. On the other hand, I have a friend who will use no other brand because he believes that it will deliver the best possible stability and compatibility. He doesn't OC, either.

![]() Addendum: I bought the Intel mobo because I had a hookup in Intel and got the 2600k proc half off (hookup claims they could sell them at $10 a piece and still make a profit) and I also got a pretty decent deal on the motherboard too. I now regret not thinking it through more, but hey. Edit2: I'd really like a reply i.e. reload save files, because ATM I'm not running MPrime... Last fiddled with by Dubslow on 2011-12-09 at 19:07 |
