Speaking of coincidences, Stephen was born on the 8th of January 1942, the 300th anniversary of Galileo´s dead, and died on 14 of March, Einstein´s birth day. Very appropriate.

Two important ladies.

Many know the Brown case. But an important case that came before that is often overlooked is Mendez v. Westminster. Several of the key players were involved in it and the aftermath.

Ermey was originally meant to function only as a technical adviser to Kubrick [in the filming of 1987's Full metal Jacket], but when Kubrick was impressed by an instructional tape Ermey put together in which he went on long rants at extras, he instead cast him in the role of Gunnery Sergeant Hartman. Kubrick allowed Ermey to improvise and write or edit his dialogue, and he said Ermey often only needed two or three takes to finish a scene — both unusual for Kubrick films.

Any bets on whether gunnery Sgt. Hartman is now eternally whipping the maggots into shape in heaven or in hell?
