(Pre-Perry Mason Raymod Burr was also such a one. In casting the latter TV show, the producers originally intended 60s-SciFi-good-guy Bill Hopper to play Mason and Burr to play his not-afraid-to-put-the-muscle-on-suspects-and-reluctant-witnesses private-detective pal Paul Drake. In early screen tests they quickly realized their mistake, and the rest is TV history.) |

I had forgotten about The Thing from the early 1980's. "Dr. Blair" was his character. A good scene is where MacReady (Kurt Russell) goes out to the tool-shed to check on Blair after they lock him inside. He talks to Blair through a small opening in the door. Blair is eating something from a can. Just to the left, a hangman's noose is clearly visible. |
