Li was a young chinese doctor who alerted his colleagues 2019 December 30 to a new disease and faced the unjustifiable but politically shortsighted expedient wrath of his local government in response, returned to work, contracted the illness himself from a seriously ill patient, and subsequently died, age 33, on 2020 February 7. He was one of several who sounded the early alarm about what is now a pandemic. RG's longtime colleague Renate Scheidler - I had the pleasure of meeting both of them at one of the every-other-December WCNTC meet-ups at Asilomar in late 90s - just posted this to the NMBRTHRY mailing list - it has the above link plus several others. Was not aware of RG's passion for climbing - having done some mountaineering in western Alberta (mountains around Jasper) in my college days, I can say it's certainly a spectacular part of the world for it:

Lyle Waggoner

Lyle Waggoner, who starred on "The Carol Burnett Show" and in the 1970s "Wonder Woman" series, has died at 84, Variety has confirmed.

In a statement released by Waggoner's family it was revealed that the "loving husband, father, grandfather, entrepreneur, and actor passed away peacefully at home on March 17th at the age of 84 with his wife at his side. The cause of death was cancer."

Waggoner may have become best known for his roles on "The Carol Burnett Show," where he started as the announcer in 1967 but stayed on with the sketch show through 1974. Some of his most notable sketches include being interrogated by a Nazi and his finger puppet and playing a love-lorn man in "As The Stomach Turns," a slave master in "The Oldest Man," Olympian Mark Spitz to Burnett's Charo, and an alien known as the Jolly Green Thing.
