In my first year of this job, I was confronted by a set (1st year A level ~16 yo)
consisting of four girls.

By way of introduction, I asked for their names, so that
I could start my brand new "Register Book".
(In alphabetical order)

Lily Ardishir (confirms spelling thereof)
Daphne Charalambides (bit of a mouthful)
Danielle Dwek (likewise)
Carole Miller (smiles at the simplicity, but mentions the "e").

I married one of them

David

Reminds me of the graffiti, "Roald Dahl cheats at Scrabble".

I was a painter and decorator in a partnership with my dad and my brother. We took on a 16 year girl as an apprentice.
I married one of them.

Married 21 years last month. Thinking of making a commitment.

BBC QI fact of the day:

Quote:
You see, wire telegraph is a kind of a very, very long cat. You pull his tail in New York and his head is meowing in Los Angeles. Radio operates exactly the same way: you send signals here; they receive them there. The only difference is that there is no cat. ALBERT EINSTEIN (1879-1955)
I needed my physics teacher to 'dumb-down' but that's a bit too far.

In a day of unremarked miracles, such as cell phones, yes, it might be...but remember that electricity wasn't elementary school science in those days...
