It's running again. We had a power outage while I was out of town. Sorry about the problem.

What are the plans when this subproject ends?

Yes. These are off the top of my head.
I'm sure that some people have other ideas. Maybe someone should set up a poll. |

I would vote for all of the above. Great ideas.
I would like to hear from Max and Mathew who do a lot of the current testing on Port 1400. |

I agree with that. I've considered putting some cores against that port. I think that it will dry out about the time that I'm finished with my range for S6.

I would note that all the non-reserved-by-other-projects power-of-2 conjectures were most recently processed by a mini-drive on port 1300, which despite being offline for some time is still sort of in a "limbo" state waiting for me to process the results. These days Gary's processing most of the results himself (having developed a much more efficient process than my needlessly byzantine system), but AFAIK port 1300 is still waiting for me to clean it up since it was kind of a mess of different test levels at the low end. That was the whole point of that mini-drive, to get all the unreserved power-of-2 conjectures up to a uniform level (2M, if I remember correctly). One of these days I need to go back and clean it up...it shouldn't actually take too long, I've just been putting it off. ![]() In any event, we should be safe to go ahead and continue on from 2M without waiting for me to clean up the stuff below there. All the results (and more importantly primes) are there, I just need to sort them out for the filing cabinet. ![]() Whatever we decide to run next on port 1400, I'll likely be increasing my resources on it soon--I haven't had too many cores running over the summer since I've been largely out of town which has parted my quad-core laptop from its cooling pad (without which it is hopelessly unable to dissipate heat under full load). It's just been the i5-2400 running NPLB, and the E4500 C2D (which at this point has got enough computer-years on it that it's thinking about collecting Social Security checks) on port 1400. Within the next month or so I'll be powering back up the quad laptop, which as before will be joined by my i7-2620M dualcore tablet PC on a part-time basis. I also have a friend's Celeron G540 (Sandy Bridge dualcore) that'll be rejoining the fleet soon - it's a server box that kind of died in January but has recently been repaired (long story). So--long story short, we should have some good firepower coming to bear on port 1400 in the near term. |
