Email Notification of New Private Messages

Hi there,
yesterday, I received some private messages from gd_barnes. I have the Email notification enabled, but the only Email I received, was the following in my spam folder:

Dear Xentar,

You will probably never see this message because it will end up in your spam folder.

However, just in case it does not, or, if you happen to read the messages in your spam folder:



Our system indicates that you may have received a private message from gd_barnes.

This private message, which has probably been viewed by hundreds of hackers, was most likely originally intended for someone else. However, in the unlikely event that this message is really for you, we encourage you to log in and read it before your identity is stolen.

To fold, spindle or mutilate this message, you may have to log in here:

What does it mean? It was just a usual message from him, asking about a reservation status.

Many forum veterans have learned how to selectively read such messages so as to extract the information out from the disguising humor.

For example, here's one way to analyze (via striking out unnecessary parts) the message you quoted:

Dear Xentar,

You will probably never see this message because it will end up in your spam folder.

Well, that part is a matter between you and your mailbox software's Bayesian spam filtering. :-) If you have a whitelist, add mersenneforum.org to it.
