Dmitry has completed R243 to n=100K; 25 primes were found for n=25K-100K; 38 k's remain; base is released.

Hi, new here.
I'm fairly familiar with the work involved especially sieving and would like to participate.

I'd like to reserve S117 and R117 up to 250K.

Hi Kenet,

Can you introduce yourself a little more and give us an idea of your CPU resources? Sieving and testing 14 k's for n=100K-250K is a fair amount of work. There is no timeframe for completing reservations but we just want to make sure that you have an idea of the amount of work that you are reserving. After you answer, I'll show the official reservation on our pages.

Thanks,
Gary

I found about prime searching thanks to an ex-flatmate who was involved with primegrid and other projects. At the time I couldn't get involved due to spending very long periods away from home. Now that things have settled down I thought it would be interesting to take some work and contribute. Chose to start here mainly because I understand the concept. Also I like that you can take an independent chunk of work and manage your own pace.

Now, to the point. I'm planning to use 6 cores (occasionally rising to 8). I've sampled the range and a rough calculation tells me it should take about 9 months if no primes are found. I hope I won't be that unlucky and it will be less than that. If my estimate is wrong and it would take considerably longer, I could always sieve to 250K (which I'm doing) but stop testing at 200K.

OK sounds good. 6 cores running most of the time should be sufficient. I'll reserve the bases for you. Keep in mind that the timings vary with the square of the n-value. So an n=200K test would take 4 times as long as an n=100K test. But like you said, you can cut it off at n=200K if you wish. Good luck!
