A question: how can I get a search to find more than just 100 posts
or threads? I was looking for an old post of mine and had trouble finding it (didn't know what thread or sub-forum). |

1. find threads with at most 20 posts. 2. find threads with at least 21 posts. By this you get 200 posts. Homework: combine other methods to get 800 hits. |

We let the searchbots in (!) so you can use Google to search for stuff.
The bandwidth those spiders use is considerable, but they index stuff better than we can. Rest assured that the Trolls are doing everything they can to make the forum easier for search engines to index. Check out the number of registered users online versus to other kinds of users. Are they all cranks or guests or minions or rebels or spambots or terrorists? site:mersenneforum.org searchterm Try it! ![]() |

YES!!!
That worked beautifully! Found one old post, and a few related ones. Thanks, Xyzzy ! Using google that way could save a lot of' wear and tear on the forum search function. ![]() |

About the only alternative when terms like FixedHardwareUID are not permitted. Thankfully the alternative exists.

Please consider testing the search function to see if it works better. ![]() |

I don't know about longer words, my vocabulary list only
goes to ten. I have a different question about the forum's search function. Suppose I want a list of all threads started outside soapbox. I figured out how to list all threads started within say the soapbox. But how do I get the complement? |
