It happened to me, and yes, it did suck.

Just wondering.....if my busted mobo IS killing all my CPU's, then what if I sent in the mobo and got a new one, and put one of the bad CPU's in the mobo? Could the CPU in turn ruin the mobo?

Because that would be the absolute dumbest thing ever: if my mobo turned into a CPU eating zombie, which turned the broken CPU's into mobo-eating zombies, which turned those mobo's into CPU eating zombies, which.....and the cycle goes on forever.

Because then I'd get my new mobo, and my CPU would ruin it. Then I'd have to send BOTH back, making the amount of RMA's I've made on this PC add up to....7. Damn.

EDIT:

Oh, and person above me.....do my symptoms seem to match yours at all? From your experience, what do you think?

Have you tried taking the GPU out and carefully slotting it in again?

Guy above me:

Yes, I've reseated it. In fact, like I mentioned, I got a new CPU to replace the one I thought was busted (which it wasn't...it was just the mobo, it turns out. Hopefully).

No, not at all. Mine wouldn't turn on at all. The mobo killed two or three CPUs before we figured it out, then I swapped mobos but kept one of the zombie processors which of course still failed. But the processor didn't infect the new motherboard, so all I needed to do was replace one more CPU and it worked.

Great...that I can live with (assuming that my CPU was killed by the mobo. It's still possible-and actually probably most likely-that my CPU is fine).

It's important to remember that the Delphic oracle smokes things, makes guesses, can be wrong, and can't be held liable for being wrong.

From the NewEgg feedback, which I encourage you to read for yourself, I don't *THINK* your CPU is shredded. Also be aware that the most recent upgrade to the BIOS was for failure to boot with certain, GPUs. If I had more $$ than time, I'd go ahead and get a cheap GPU to bring up the system, probably from NVIDIA. Comments on NVIDIA cards on NewEgg are also instructive.

Thanks....You've been a wonderful help. I've been on tons of forums pleading for help with this problem, and this has by far been the most helpful :)

I'm going to keep taking baby steps....I will first send in the motherboard, and HOPEFULLY that will fix everything and life can go on. If it doesn't, however, I will live with then sending back the GPU or CPU (again).

I've got a lot of huge tests coming up, as well as some other enormous obligations, so I can go slow and steady with this for awhile. I've waited months...I can wait a few more weeks. As long as it's functioning for the summer, haha.

So I'll send that motherboard in tomorrow (I said I would do it today, but time slipped away...hopefully tomorrow works out). I'll keep you guys updated! Thanks so much again! (this sounds like a conclusion....I don't think it is, though, haha)

Everyone! Big update! Hope you all haven't forgotten about me...and if you have, hope you're not bothered by remembering, haha!

Unfortunately, this "big update" probably isn't a good one. I just got the replacement motherboard. The short version: it *affected* the hanging, but NOT the beeping. In other words, it hasn't hung YET (whereas it normally would doing menial things like twenty seconds of Prime95), but it still might, considering when I got the new CPU it worked fine for three days until it started hanging, and it did the same thing when I built it.

Instead of typing up a huge essay about everything all over again, I recorded this video, which I'll upload to my old Youtube channel. I thought maybe a video could say things better than my typing could.

The video is uploading and should be done in several minutes, which is when I'll post it.

THANKS!
