Is admin the right term or super moderator? I thought that Xyzzy et al* were the admin and the red people were the super mods.

vBulletin has three different levels of global moderatorship: "Super Moderator", "Administrator", and "Root Admin". Xyzzy would be considered a Root Admin, and (IIRC) there can only be one Root Admin on a forum. The Root Admin can make other users Administrators. Administrators are pretty much the same as a Root Admin--they can access the Admin CP and (again, IIRC) do anything except make people admins. Super Moderators do not access the Admin CP, but have mod powers on all subforums.

I'm not sure whether the "supermods" here are actually Administrators or Super Moderators, but the end result from the individual member's perspective is effectively the same so the generic term "supermod" is applied.

The order, I think, is: Unregistered user, registered user, forum moderator, global moderator, super moderator, administrator, root admin, satrap, emperor, God-King.

Once (if?) they reach agreement they either implement the decision or (usually) palm it off on the forum assistants. Whenever something goes horribly wrong, it is most likely due to a boo-boo by the super moderators. Currently, Alex is the designated scapegoat so direct any and all complaints to him.

Fivemack has been spamming us for months for access to the secret DH forum, so the super moderators promoted him. We are not sure if the DH forum access is worth the additional duties, but Alex did hint a few days ago that he would provide nude photographs of the Hoff.

So, to simplify: Super moderators run things, forum assistants try to implement their wishes and repair their mistakes and we get to sit back and enjoy the ride.

That is a pretty good scam!
