I've had Prime 95 running in the background of my computer for years, but the computer recently had problems (registry errors), which I resolved by formatting my drive and reloading the operating system.
I actually was able to back everything up before that. My question is, should I download the newest version and start again, or try to restore? I have a AMD K6 550. |

You want to use the latest version -- however, you need the config and temp files from the old version.
So do a restore of the prime95 directory and then download the newest version into it. It should keep your set-ups and continue working from where it left off. (If this is not true, someone please corrrect me.) |

You don't actually need to copy the config information, you can just type it in again from scratch when the program prompts you. Really you only need to remember the username and password you used last time.
Definitely get the most recent version. |

However, if you had an exponent partly done, you definitely want to restore the pNNNNNNN and qNNNNNNN files from backup so you don't lose work.
You also want to restore your worktodo.ini file with your assigned exponents, although we can tell you how to do that manually if we know your user name. If you have the backup of the directory, go ahead and restore it. But after that, definitely get the latest version of the program. |
