Maybe that rule needs rewording then.
All I'm saying is that because of the nature of the item its 'year of invention' is unknown or unknowable. So I have been estimating.

I will have give everyone a question and answer for free:

36b) Have you deliberately tried to mislead anyone with your answers?

No. (But no sit-out!)

I never said I was looking for an invention date until that last question, if you look back at the real questions they all never use first until my last question. I was simply asking when it had or hadn't been produced through time.

Is also unknown or unknowable. Some decades ago. Maybe/possible/probably more than a century ago.

39) Is the main component(s) (by mass) of this typically/traditionally metal?
If yes, I yield the floor.

I've been following this thread off and on with interest. Since we're down to the last question and I've never asked a question, I don't want to ask one now. But after looking very closely at all of the recaps, I may be able to offer up a hint about something it could be related to:

Some sort of part of or for a car. I think a car tire with its wheel intact fits every category except one: The one related to one or more user controls. The weight is correct, the price is right, and its "year of "invention" is approximately correct but is not easily nailed down to a specific year; i.e. 1890 to 1900 is around the time that cars as we know them now were invented; perhaps a little before but not much.

The vague timeframe for year of invention being right around the time of when cars were invented is a clue that it could be some part for a car.

A large car radio fits the user controls criteria but technically it would be powered by the car battery and so is electrically powered. So it only fails on that category although I'm not sure if it would weigh > 22 lbs. It would depend on the system.

To rule out all car parts completely, we can ask:
Is there an existing car part that can be user controlled, could run without the car battery being in place (i.e. no gas/electricity), weighs 22-44 lbs, and cost < $140 U.S. If no, then all car parts can be eliminated.

To open it up even further, I'm thinking of some object that you would typically find in someone's garage or shed. That's what lead me to the car part hypothesis.

My apologies. Question 35 rules out car parts. I missed it because we hadn't had a recap in a while. It looks like someone probably had a similar idea that I did.

If I had to make a recommendation to future question askers: Don't ask so many questions in a specific realm. IMHO, using so many questions to narrow down its weight and year of invention was not a good use of them.
