So the trial factoring wavefront hit 99M today. I'd say it's about time to add a bit or two starting at 66M or some such, again...

All exponents below 26,114,633 have been tested and double-checked.
All exponents below 44,457,869 have been tested at least once.

Countdown to testing all exponents below M(57885161) once: 27,967

Countdown to proving M(30402457) is the 43rd Mersenne Prime: 1,832
Countdown to proving M(32582657) is the 44rd Mersenne Prime: 29,915

Is your point that there is a greater need for LL testing (especially LL double checks) than there is for trial factoring to higher bit levels? I'm not taking sides, just inquiring. I'm as ignorant as they come on this forum in regards to the best way to achieve project efficacy and unity.

AFAICT, this is solely a monthly status update on the progress made towards eliminating potential mersenne prime candidates below a given threshold.

I guess I should have been more clear with my question. I realized it was from the Results Query and I just assumed that it was a "read between the lines" type posting. I probably thought that because of the above posting about "battening down the hatches" and that some flame war was about to begin.

I hear trial factoring is just barely keeping up with the LL wavefront. I'm sure it wouldn't be the end of the world if for a month all Makes Sense^TM assignments could be double-checks instead.

More like that. I have generally waited until we were 1/2 way closer to one or more goals than the last posting.

I just want to capture a "were we are" on the milestones every month or two. The "battening down the hatches" I think refers to a habit to incitement of another member of the forum.

I think that is more due to GPU72 holding everything from 61m upwards to make sure everything gets TFed to 74 bits before being handed out for LL testing. The thought process being it is better to hand out a 65M with TF to 74 bits than a 61M with TF done to 73 bits. If we find TF is lagging behind I think we could just throw back any 61M or 62M exponents into the LL pool and be fine. No need to mess with the What Makes Sense setting.
