Assuming no prime is found before 2022-07-30 then that will equal the longest GIMPS dry spell of 1331 days.
2013-01-25 − 2009-06-04 = 1331 days 2022-07-30 − 2018-12-07 = 1331 days |

And PED's run had stalled at 64.7% for more than a day and expiration before completion was becoming increasingly likely. Which does not excuse poaching. PED was entitled to the time until expiration.

Yesterday, after several weeks of being close, we have finally reached a milestone of sorts.
100 primes with between 2’000,000 and 2’999,000 digits. These are some statistics on these 100 primes. OLDEST: 2098960 digits Discovered June 1st 1999 Mersenne 38 (26972593-1) It is also the First Megaprime both at the time of discovery and after being confirmed as M38 NEWEST: 57 * 29075622 - 1 2732037 digits August 7, 2022 LARGEST 475856524288 + 1 2976633 digits. August 14, 2012 SMALLEST 39*26648997 +1 2001550 Digits October 20, 2020 MEDIAN 7401 * 27523295 - 1 2264742 Digits February 21 2021 Most of the primes have been discovered in the last 10 years. 4000 days ago (a bit less than 11 years) there were only 7 of these primes. These 100 primes include 6 Generalized Fermats 1 Factorial +1 1 Cullen 1 Mersenne 0 Palindromes 0 Near Rep-digits 0 Woodalls |

The first time checks of the Mersenne exponents have almost slowed down to +1M every 3 months recently which mean only +4M per year and will take probably even longer as the exponent sizes grow.
There's a very good chance that "All exponents below 110 million tested at least once" will happen during Sep 2022. Last fiddled with by tuckerkao on 2022-08-15 at 04:46 |

Around July 9th, we achieved a small milestone: less than 15,000 Mersenne numbers (2^p-1, p prime) without a known factor for p < 1e6. Persistently stubborn composites.

It seems like that all exponents below M112M have been tested once is no longer reachable this year, too many PRP tests outstanding(10,579) and only 111 days left. Last fiddled with by tuckerkao on 2022-09-11 at 01:52 |

This is deliberate, he will hold the results and not report them, for as long as possible...
