Thank you.
I just did a quick test to make sure my Windows build was compiling properly and it seems it is. For 100 digit small problems, it is only slightly slower:

Code:
Windows 64bit
===============
Normal = 2m 37.128s     (memory use: 35.5 MB)
Largeblock = 2m 44.210s (memory use: 47.9 MB)

Linux 64bit
===============
Normal = 6m 18.884s     (memory use: 35.5 MB)
Largeblock = 6m 34.588s (memory use: 47.9 MB)
I will post the binaries soon and you can test it out to see where it seems to make a big difference.

Both versions are available for the 64bit build. You can now find that here:

Thank you. Will I notice some speed improvements on 7.4 M matrices?

Edit: I will test it. Results within an hour...

which one is better for "home size" matrices (say 100 to 140 digit factorizations)? LARGEBLOCKS = 1 or =0?

Once per hour. The latest version of msieve calculates the number of iterations that will be done each hour, and uses that as the checkpoint interval.

I'm trying SNFS(212) (3.0 M matrix) with LARGEBLOCKS = 1 and LA will take 14 hours. I don't know how slow/fast will go with LARGEBLOCKS = 0.

Thank you. I wanted to test LARGEBLOCKS = 1 with an integer SNFS(229) and I was wondering about the checkpoint.

Got a gain of 3 hours on LA on that integer.

Jeff, I am using your msieve version and under windows 7 the client shutdowns automatically every 20 hours or so.

Edit: I'm still using the flags "msieve.exe -i xxx.ini -s xxx.dat -nf xxx.fb -nc2 -nc3 -ncr -v -t 4" on a single quad-core machine while resuming LA.
