@CRG: Meh, it was merely an example:

P.S: 984590208798456603272674974591352925800155174351667200000001 = a * b.
a = ?
b = ?

Easy: a=2767736217171712590811493916037679; b=355738456103518130652787919.

Does it help if we can factor N - 1? Unfortunately it has two large prime factors:

N = 1 + 2^54 * 3^28 * 5^13 * 7^9 * 11^5 * 13^4 * 17^3 * 19^3 * 23^2 * 29^2 * 31 * 37 * 41 * 43 * 47 * 53 * 59 * 149 * 2719 * 40177 * 2154169 * 11425981639192559335306912111 * 23559568800258192242020219435698229

Sorry to mention this... It's the wrong thread!

Purpose of this thread?

Perhaps make a "Posts from PI and SM88" - thread instead!

Yes, I've thought about that too. Maybe two threads: a new 'general pi and sm discussion" on MM and a "Pari Bootcamp" on Software?

Yes, should be better. There're some more PARI users who can profit from those small codes without reading hundreds of posts with non-PARI contents!

Were you trying to apply the P-1 factoring method?

Karsten, it's funny when you're outside of your sandbox.

I think that would also be the very first *user-specific* thread around here.

When were we off topic?

A general discussion thread belongs in the Lounge or the Soap Box, not the Misc. Maths section.

I think this post would be suited to fit in the Forum Feedback section.

No, because I don't know anything about the powersmoothness of p-1, just about that of n-1.

I think the point (IMO correct) is that this thread is off-topic.

I don't think this is GD, though; it's about math and programming primarily.
