a test to try near the speed of light I know it might succumb to relativity I thought about that, then it came out as not a factor in my mind as CRG said the people expected to be 12 times there weight wouldn't feel it so neither should the spacecraft. if worse comes worse alter the equation to match relativity then we can hopefully learn how to do warp or close to.

You know, we all bring different backgrounds and skills here.

Communication skills are so important, aren't they?

These are your initial arbitrary parameters:
  • The rocket has 4 stages.
  • Each stage is composed of 85% propellant by mass.
  • Exhaust velocity for each stage is 3,000 m/s.
  • Target delta-v is 10,000 m/s
  • Payload is 1,000 kg.

Two questions, what is the minimum mass of the rocket stack on the launch pad, and what delta-v does each stage impart?

The rocket equation will be quite useful for this question:

Hint: The payload mass doesn't matter when calculating delta-v for each stage.
Why not use ground based propulsion instead?

But he said it's NOT rocket surgery.

I'm sort of on facebook and spacebook.

I'm not a rocket doctor either.

This is going a little farther than I anticipated.
