Much as I enjoyed watching the Gerries' brilliant fast-break and passing game in action, that disallowing the obvious 2nd goal by England was simply unbelievable. At least allow video review of calls involving a goal [or possible goal].
I've been having a debate with 2 fellows at work - one French, one Turkish, both huge That having been said, the post-match whining by both England and Mexico struck me as excuse-making. Really looking forward to Argentina-Germany on Saturday ... my prediction for the final pairing remains what it was after the first round of games in group play: Brazil v. Germany. But - and especially with the "random" element of incompetent/corrupt officiating - ya just never know. LOL, Paul and davieddy's forays into Teutonisch - cunning linguists will appeciate that this is the origin of the word "Deutsch" [originally spelt "Teutsch"] - cracked me up. Been enjoying watching all the games on Spanish-language TV - although their bizarre consonant-transposed spelling of Algeria as "Argelia" threw me for a loop. |

p.s.: Is it true that Argentina's Lionel Messi is also a champion diver? Would that be 3m springboard or from the 10m tower?

I took the wise precaution of not watching the game. Quote:
I thought that Argentina game was amazing. The Argies ability to keep possession and string passes together is fantastic, but the organization of the Germans would not be out of place at a Nuremburg rally ![]() David PS I thought the game was played in a great spirit as well. Now the semifinalists is found, there are 16 possible combinations for 1st,2nd,3rd and 4th place.
My guess is: Germany takes the gold, Holland Silver, Spain Bronze, URuGuAY 4th. Last fiddled with by ATH on 2010-07-04 at 10:44 |
