The is the file without the header:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/0aev4n I have also attached a prepared header.txt. You now have a couple of alternative solutions. |

edit: Anyway, who's going to verify the factors and remove the k's from the sieve file once we start LLRing? Last fiddled with by Oddball on 2010-09-28 at 22:00 |

Releasing 61T-62T.
Although I've been able to download and extract the file, I can't edit the header. Using copy in the command prompt gives an "access is denied" error even though the file isn't read-only. Neither the XVI32 program nor the Textpad one lets me open it, since it requires too much memory (I have 8GB of RAM, but the programs won't let me use it). |

Try right-clicking on the file, selecting Propertires, going to the Security tab, and making sure that "Full Control" access is granted for at least one user group to which you belong (whether that be Administrators, Users, or even just the group representing solely your username). If you need to make any changes to this, try the "copy" command again and see if it works now. In case it really is a file-is-too-big problem, one quick question that might give me a better idea as to why it's not working: are you on a 32-bit or 64-bit operating system? (If 32-bit, there is a 2 GB per-process RAM limit that prevents programs from using the entire 8 GB; if 64-bit, then I'm not sure what's happening.) On a completely unrelated note: I noticed that in the first post of this thread, the reservations table for Stage 3 (that is, the currently active one) lists ranges in terms of k, when those figures are actually p since there's only one big sieve file at this point. |

http://www.mersenneforum.org/showthr...327#post230327 Or you could try splitting the file using a file splitter like GSplit (you can even make the pieces the sizes you want) or 7-zip (you have to make all the pieces the same size; tell 7-zip to put the file into a Tar archive split into some number of bytes that you can edit easily, then edit the .001 file with a hex editor like XVI32, and open the .001 file with 7-zip to recombine). If it really is an issue with permissions instead of opening the huge file, all of these methods will fail. We'll see. Last fiddled with by TimSorbet on 2010-09-29 at 12:02 |

Could someone divide the file into 6 parts again (0-20T, 20T-40T, 40T-60T, etc) and upload them? The sendspace links in posts like these:
http://www.mersenneforum.org/showpos...&postcount=122 http://www.mersenneforum.org/showpos...&postcount=119 have expired, so I can't get the files from there. On my PC, sieving the 0-120T file gives me a removal rate of 1.2 sec/k, but sieving each 20T file separately gives me a removal rate of 0.8 sec/k. |
