Is the latest Mlucas faster than glucas?
It seems to me that both could be run on this system.
AFAIK mlucas has been mantained more lately and is in asm not c.

IIRC, when I first tried them both (about 4-5 years ago) Glucas was a bit faster than Mlucas on my G4 Mac. I believe it had something to do with enabling the AltiVec engine in the G4 processor, which was the default for my system.

The PowerPC processor could run the pants off an Intel processor at the same clock speed. At first, I was sorry to see Apple drop the PowerPC line. But I think it is better in the long run. Motorola couldn't get the clock rate up without temp issues.

FWIW, my new MacBook Pro, which is nearly three times faster (clock rate) than my G4 but can't even do ECM-GMP twice as fast.
