In case anyone missed it, GIMPS now has an official process for accepting donations.

You can donate to GIMPS by going to the home page and clicking on the large "Donate" button. You can also use this direct link: http://mersenne.org/donate

GIMPS helped me find a new job, understanding Math principles of Number theory, writing a good factorization program and thilled me with a useful search.

It's the minimum I can do to express my pride and thankfulness of being here. Thank you GIMPS!

Per the donate page, gifts above $500 will receive a receipt. The current tax law would indicate that the figure should be $250.

What I was referring to, is that any amount above $250, should cause them to send a "thank you" that mentions that the giver did not get anything in return. I am all for larger donations,

It is per: http://www.irs.gov/publications/p526...link1000229833 that 250 is the minimum level that requires ack.
