I'm just posting this here so I can find it again... Run along... Nothing to see here... :)

I've disabled editing posts for regular members to see if this helps... You can still preview your post before you submit it...
Moderators have full edit permissions but I'd ask that you limit your edits to ones that require moderator intervention and not your ordinary posts... I know this has been a real inconvenience to you all and I apologize for it... :( |

Not that I know anything about how to fix the problem, but would it make a difference if you could still edit a post if your post was still the last post? I've noticed that edits to posts like this didn't add to the total edit count.

I have no idea if this applies, but I run a critical (to us) database where I work. It grows 15-20% per year. It needs to get exported and imported a few times a year to reorganize the data cleanly. Usually pick up 20-25% speed improvement when we do it.
A thought . . . |

would it be speedier if we were allowed to delete our own posts, so as to not take as much space on the server?

The space is not an issue... Reading the forum is not an issue... We've had 66 people on at one time before...
The problem is that to edit a post the software deletes it and then reinserts it... Apparently this is a big problem... (Those links explain it in great detail!) For now let's try it without edits for a few days and see what happens... |
