Default PrimeNet howto / wiki

Hi,
I'm new to mprime95 and the PrimeNet site supporting it.
I wonder if there is a wiki / howto to explain all the graphs in the "My Account -> Summary" page?
And also brief explain on all the tables and numbers...

BTW: I'm running mprime95 on 2 machines; a windowsXP P-IV 2.8Ghz and a debian on a PIII 550Mhz.

Thanks,
Meni

Not really. Most of us have been hanging around here so long that it seems self explanatory to us. If you have any specific questions you should probably try asking here.

i thought i did ask?!?

Anyway..here goes:
How do i read the Charts and Tables presented in The "My Account->Summary" page??
What does the "Stats for the Last 365 Days" & "Lifetime Stats" represent?
What does the "CPU results last 24hrs" mean?
http://chart.apis.google.com/chart?c...ts+last+24+hrs

Thanks for the reply.

redcloud,

First of all, I'd say that certain parts of the charts, stats, and tables are indeed not completely obvious, or may be confusing. As another veteran, I think I know what lfm means by "have been hanging around here so long that it seems self explanatory to us". But I'd bet that some of us veterans might have a mistaken idea or two about some of what is displayed, and your call for an accessible explanation is well-founded.

I've been working on a long-term project to compile (and eventually post at mersennewiki.org) the best answers to questions frequently asked in mersenneforum.org. Now I see that my project could also include the explanations you seek -- so thank you for asking! :-)

Allow me to illustrate how mistaken our veteran interpretations might be, by posting my own.

I may be mistaken. I presume someone else will correct me if necessary, but perhaps my mistakes could be taken as a measure of the unobviousness of some chart/stat/table meanings (or as a measure of how my memory has deteriorated -- I'm writing this without searching through forum threads for previously posted explanations).

"last 24hrs" -- it's based on what you have reported to PrimeNet during the preceding 24 hours. It's _not_ referring to what your CPUs have accomplished during the last 24 hours. (Your reports may have included results from a time period of multiple days.)

That's the part I'm fairly sure of -- but I could be wrong.

"CPU results" -- This could be (it's my best guess) the quotient of:

[ CPU credit (GHz-days) PrimeNet calculated for results you reported during the preceding 24 hours

/

Theoretical maximum amount of GHz-days your system(s) could have accomplished, as calculated by PrimeNet, during the time period represented by the last 24 hours of reports ]

or ... (just to expose myself to ridicule)

it could be the quotient of:

[ CPU credit (GHz-days) PrimeNet calculated for results you reported during the preceding 24 hours

/

Theoretical maximum amount of GHz-days your system(s) could have accomplished, as calculated by PrimeNet, during the last 24 hours ].

Last fiddled with by cheesehead on 2009-12-17 at 02:18 Reason: I'll bet/hope some other veteran disagrees within a few hours.
