I found out that when prime95 does trial factoring work, my CPU's temperature only goes up to around 60°C, and remains there for hours. But I just got assigned a LL double check, and I saw the CPU rocket up to about 65°C within a few minutes. The CPU load was 100% in both cases. Is this normal?
I have an Intel Celeron T1600 1.66GHz processor. |

This is to be expected. TF performs mostly integer calculations, whereas LL, P-1, and ECM do mostly floating-point calculations; the latter tends to stress the CPU more since the FPU portion of the processor is used heavily, rather than being not used much at all as with integer calculations. This is why it's usually better to have unstable machines do TF than LL, because usually they can still be stable enough to do generally accurate TF work.
