Can the prpnet server be upgraded to accept double-quoted nicks? A number of people are going to be affected by this loss of functionality.

Only chance we have is to ask Rogue if he can make it a new feature for one of the next releases.

I'll send Rogue an email and see what he thinks.

Rogue answered that this is unlikely to be implemented as it requires rewriting of both the server and the client. So we are going to have to look for workarounds for all the users with spaces in their IDs.

He also reminded me that PRPNet is open source, so everyone is free to help with the programming and he would consider merging any (well tested) enhancements back in to the base.

I tried to make it work by a rather obvious method: change the client and server to send and expect the user and client IDs with double quotes before and after them, but for reasons I don't know, the server was unable to correctly parse the message and extract the IDs after the change (regardless of whether the IDs had spaces).
