did they miss perfect numbers on purpose ? I found 82 to fit all criteria I know of for perfect numbers this also works for digits being reversed at least until 8128 so according to my math 694 82 and 8218 also fit the rules I know of out side maybe ending in 6 and 8 only

82=(9*9) + 1 and 2+8 = 10, 1 + 0 = 1

?

Maybe you would have more luck with your numerology if you wrote all the Mersenne numbers in binary.

I'm talking perfect numbers the ones I listed that seem to work don't fit the ending that they supposedly will always have. sorry I'm not thinking I forgot to check divisors

science_man_88: It's trivial to show that every even perfect number is a multiple of 9 plus 1.

find me a equation for a specific series and I'll turn out perfect numbers in a heart beat. I found a way to express them as (2^x)-(2^y) where y= (1/2)(x - 1). the hard part is finding the pattern to the x values if I can do that I can turn out values of perfect numbers fast. the perfect numbers can then be plugged in to the original equation to find p for the next mersenne prime.
