I don't have access to the full-text for this journal.
So I guess I will have to run some more tests. (Point in case: solved 199 PE problems while intoxicated; now that I seized taking the Creativity Liquid, I solved none! Well, that, and that they are on a summer break. I am on an Erdos-esque test break.) |

The LA Times has a serious problem with names of planets- This week, they have Saturn's moon Iapetus orbiting Jupiter. Back in Post 575 of this thread, they had jet streams on Saturn misplaced to Jupiter....maybe it's better that these reporters are kept in the science section. Wouldn't want them handling wars or politics or something like that. All the fighting in Syria might be reported from Sydney, Australia.

Today's LA Times science article may also be inaccurate. What I think he is describing is a type 1a supernova caused by Carbon Detonation, in which the white dwarf explodes. The article seems to be saying that the supernova is caused by the companion star collapsing in on itself.

Celebrating Impractical Physicists: NEW YORK — Do you think cutting-edge scientists should earn as much as star athletes, celebrity artists or Wall Street bankers? The Russian billionaire investor Yuri Milner does, and this week he put his money where his heart is.
