What's wrong with hanging?
![]() Especially for violators, child abusers, well.. few politicians I know... I would make a pulley (huh! I learned a new English word, didn't know how to call the device and googled it) and raise them slowly up, millimeter by millimeter, and watch their eyes popping out... For few I would use other anatomical part to hang instead of neck, the one which is "diametrically opposed" with the neck... |

Like hanging, firing squads are just more openly brutal than the supposedly 'clinical' lethal injection, but the results are probably pretty much instantaneous, unless the rope is too short, or the shooters miss. Of course, expecting 'ideal' results from any form of deliberate killing is folly. Beheading out to be a 'no-brainer' to carry out, except for the unpleasant dependence on human skill to do the deed. Even guillotines botched things on occasion. There is no way to insure a clean kill, regardless of method. The problem is the killing itself. crosspost Quote:
EDIT2: I would still assert that if it is prolonged torment you want, go for life in solitary. No form of killing holds a candle to that. Last fiddled with by kladner on 2015-03-12 at 07:07 |

Consider, perhaps, a small shaped charge fitted to the top of the skull. Done properly it will drill a 3" hole right the way donw to the neck. Cheap, quick, effective and not obviously more barbaric than the fielded alternatives.

But I still think a modern - which is not to say hi-tech in the electronics-using sense, rather the mechanical-design one - reliability-enhanced guillotine might be best of all. Hack, maybe one could simply repurpose an easily obtainable hydraulic wood-splitting maul. |

Perhaps have a computer in the loop. Require the Judges which condemned the individual to death to each turn a key and/or enter a code. Then a countdown begins... The condemned might be given a switch available to them which triggers the act... Personally, if I was the condemned (even if innocent) I'd prefer to trigger the action rather than waiting with uncertainty for the act. Imagine running the debugging on that kind of system! 8-| |

Not a problem. The equipment can first be tested in isolation with dummy explosives. Then test it on mechanical dummies and finally on volunteer corpses --- volunteered either pre-mortem or post-mortem by next of kin.
