The link works fine. Something is most likely wrong on your end.

Strange therefore fun - so let's investigate! What browser are you using? Where are you located? Do you know how to use a proxy?

I get the 404, too. What might be common to Uncwilly's end and my end that differs from Mini-Geek's and yours?

Do you use a proxy?

What web browser are you using?

No (unless that's something at my ISP that I don't know about).

I know why you get a 404. Instead of clicking the link, you copy-and-paste it. Thus, when you copy and paste it into your browser you enter: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/lif...cle6934109.ece, instead of the correct link: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/lif...cle6934109.ece (note that when you actually click the latter (correct) link, the ellipses are not there in the url).

Good grief. No, I clicked -- I've known about such ellipses in displayed URLs since the last century. It was more stupid than that!

In an extended moment of lost concentration (or over-concentration ... one or the other), I clicked on the quoted link in your post (denoted "Attachment 4361"), not on the link in HRB's post #66 (or as quoted in Uncwilly's post #68).

Great idea! Unfortunately Uncwilly's attachment shows the full URL...

@cheesehead

Try entering the URL into http://beatthefirewalla.info/

I have tried the links in both Firefox and Chrome, and they work! And if you are clicking and still get a 404, then I don't know what to tell you. Sorry.

Perhaps I didn't make myself clear.

Once I clicked on a link to the article, rather than a link to Attachment 4361, there was no problem.
