Actually, bad things are bound to happen, whether or not you are playing around. Get over it.

A rather more productive attitude is to work out how to reduce risks and how to mitigate the consequences of bad things when they happen.
When I note the convenient editing you did to my post, it makes me think you want to be my enemy.

It's the Internet man, if you don't like me just ignore me. The only reason I give a damn at all is because you're a mod.

We like you jasong. No one here wants to be your enemy. Somtimes the messeges appears to be rough when you don't see the smiling faces.

I think you have a point. It is really a good to apply the precautionary principle in many areas of life, especially when new things are concerned.

Usually though I tend to overestimate the dangers of new things.

I didn't edit your post at all!

If what appears on the forum is not what you remember typing, either someone else edited it or you have mis-remembered. I can try to find out whether another mod changed things but rather doubt I'd be successful.

You are right in that bad things can happen and that thought should be given. All I'm saying is that this particular example is no different, IMO, than almost everything else we do or fail to do. As they say, happens. My reaction is to learn how to deal with it, an action which is much more useful (again IMO) than merely complaining about ti.

I think his point is that you didn't quote the second sentence, in which he qualified the first sentence by saying almost what you did: we shouldn't not do it, but there probably isn't enough risk-mitigation in place yet.

Not saying this because I'm a right-winger, more because I doubt the safety protocols for this type of stuff are good enough.

Default "Brownie" Says Obama Responding to Sandy Too Quickly

http://readersupportednews.org/news-...dy-too-quickly

Quote:
Former FEMA Director Michael Brown offered criticism of President Obama's early responses to Hurricane Sandy yesterday, including a dig at the administration's response to last month's attack in Libya. Yesterday, ahead of the storm's pummeling of the eastern seaboard, Brown gave an interview to the local alternative paper, the Denver Westword, on how he believed the Obama administration was responding to Sandy too quickly and that Obama had spoken to the press about Sandy's potential effect too early.

And what does being a right winger, or left winger for that matter, have anything whatsoever to do with the subject in hand?

It doesn't, but the latter part of the sentence is more relevant. (I think "Not because I'm right wing" was meant to be interpreted as "Not because I'm needlessly suspicious" or perhaps "Not because I'm anti-science", etc.)

Actually, at least a couple of those have been available at McDonald's U.S. competitors all along.

Their curly fries look exactly like the curly fries that Arby's has served for decades as the standard potato item in Arby's sandwich combos.

Burger King has offered a veggie burger for a long time.
