Default V4 Computers

I have 2 CPUs running 25.7.3

From the froum:
"The group of your computers not upgraded to Prime95 25.7.3 (or later) is called v4_computers which appears to the PrimeNet 5.0 system as a single typical CPU that collects the received work credits."

How do I view/update the information on the other computers?

These Computers are running W95 and NT.

You will need to install a updated client to those computers.

Edited to add: probably updated operating systems too. If that isn't possible, then you will not be able to control those clients over the internet, though they will still continue to function and send in results.

OK!

How do I verify (or can you) that a V4 computer is reporting to my Team?

The computer is G2KP4D.
Team: MurrayInfoSys

It's an old CPU, so an upgrade is not an option.

Other Questions:
1) What forum do I use to verify my computer set up is maximized. Basically memory allocation.

2) Benchmarks for a Dell Inspiron 9400. Do you need? Where? Feed me.

3) Where do I go to get guidance on other OS to run the software? (IBM iSeries)

TKS

The latest prime95 can run on Win95 & NT, according to mersenne.org's software page, so you shouldn't have to upgrade your OS for prime95.

The software & primenet forums would be the most likely, apart from the information & answers forum. This looks like a useful summary:

How to decide (it's really your choice but here are some things to consider):
- Lucas Lehmer (LL) tests take the longest - weeks or a month or more with the latest hardware but are the tests to find a Mersenne Prime. Low memory usage.
- Double-Check (DC) tests take about 1/4 as long as LL. They double-check previous LL tests. Low memory usage.
- Trail Factoring (TF) are the quickest and take little memory. They eliminate exponents from the LL/DC tests by finding small factors of them. Low memory usage.
- P-1 is another factoring program for larger factors to again eliminate the need for LL/DC. HIGH memory usage. At least 300MB ... 600MB is better.
- ECM is another factoring program to find larger factors of smaller exponents already LL/DC tested. Not sure of the memory usage....somewhat high, I think.
Memory allocation is an issue for the second stage of p-1 factoring, but usually only then, so only for a relatively small part of (most) first-time LL tests, or if you choose p-1 as a work type. 300MB is sufficient for p-1, but 500-600MB is better, and you can set it lower for "daytime". For computers that are really tight for memory, trial factoring (TF) uses the least memory by far, followed by double-checks.

I don't know if they're needed, but you can submit them either to the perpetual benchmarks thread in the hardware forum, or to mersenne.org's benchmark page directly from prime95 (if you're running v25 & using the v5 server).
