There is already a separate thread about it at CRUS. Honestly, I have so much on my plate with the 2 projects that it's been far from my mind. I've procrastinated several things at CRUS already that are really needed such as coordinated finishing up Sierp base 6 to n=150K, combining Riesel and Sierp base 6 into one effort in the current PRPnet server, sieving both files some more, beginning a sieve for n>200K for base 16 on both sides, you name it. And then there's one person with fairly limited math skills that keeps wanting to start new bases that I have to "watch over" closely and check.

So...base 2 (i.e. RieselSieve) has been very low on my mental priority list.

If you or anyone would like to restart the discussion about restarting Riesel base 2 at CRUS, here is the thread. BTW, with RieselSieve now officially defunct, I will usually refer to it simply as "Riesel base 2". All links to the former project have been removed from my CRUS web pages.

On another note, I have completed the posting here at DC-Vault. You guys can tell me what you think and add more postings if you want.

Sorry, I didn't catch all the posts about a web page. So what are we doing with the noprimeleftbehind.net page?

With that name registered, how would we go about creating a page under that URL?

I can do VERY basic stuff; I mean VERY VERY basic. I copied HTML code from Karsten's pages to create the CRUS pages and now use Microsoft Front Page for updating it. In other words, I don't do any actual HTML coding to do that although I do understand some elementary commands.

Very nicely done!

I have registered noprimeleftbehind.net domain name, and I can give it a static/fixed IP to.
I have transferred an unused vBulletin license I have to No Prime Left Behind project.
If you guys want your own forum, where YOU have control over how you want your forum to run, just let me know.

We (AMDave, Bok, and myself) will hook up the whole new website, Forums, Stats databases, llrnet Servers all on one server.
Now you can become a fully grown up project, if you want.
No more PM limits if you don't want them, as I assume Gary and Max would be the Admins...
Instead of lots of stickies to keep things sorted, you could have sub forums, which should make it much simpler to manage.

We can get the whole thing setup with minimal hassle, then you can play with the vBulletin admin panel until you figure it all out. ;)

You would also have a large amount of storage space to upload all your files instead of having them all over the place, and I can always toss in another 1TB drive or three if you ever get there.

Wow what a pleasure it is to be surrounded by such enthusiasm. In less than a day we have approached the DC-Vault for formal inclusion, we have registered the definitive name noprimeleftbehind.net, we have made progress on stats, forum and our own web page.

Regarding a vBulletin setup on the new website: hmm, interesting. It would be nice to have a separate server for this project's forum...but then again, one of the nicest things about mersenneforum.org is the publicity and reputability we get by having it on the same website as numerous other well-established prime search projects such as GIMPS. Also, this makes it very convenient for users (me included) who like to be able to read NPLB's forum along with all the others here in one stop.

Is there any way to "connect" the two forums so that NPLB could retain its place on the home page of mersenneforum.org, yet have its actual forum run off-site at noprimeleftbehind.net? Ideally, it would be really nice to have the listing on mersenneforum.org also keep in sync with the various info it normally shows, such as latest post, whether there are any new posts, etc. Xyzzy/David, is this at all possible? I imagine it might require some modifications to vBulletin in order to make it work (maybe a script or two behind the scenes)--would setting such a system up be anywhere within reasonably easy reach?

If we could set it up like that, then we'd get the best of both worlds, by having all the advantages of having our forum at mersenneforum.org, yet also those of having it on a server of our own.

I'm sure Mike would agree, there is no options to 'connect' two forums on different servers hosted in different physical locations. I'm not sure it could be done even if it was hosted all on the same server.
